About the project
'Projections of Reality' is a unique international multimedia exhibition that was launched in Moscow in March 2010. Projections introduces cutting-edge visual storytelling to a wide audience in the context of the rapidly changing media market, digital and participatory media.Projections of Reality is a touring platform to showcase the most provocative documentary multimedia being made today in an exhibition format. Through the work of contemporary storytellers fluent in still photography and video, this show challenges conventions of visual narrative. Digital projections as an exhibition technique are being used to focus attention on documentary narratives and their concern with social issues and human values.
An important element of Projections is to provide a platform for productive dialogue between storytellers, media, photography and film professionals, technology gurus and academics, who are formulating the new media reality.
With ever-changing and additional content united around specific themes Projections will proceed with a full-show installation in New York in the fall of 2011 preceded by smaller previews at various festivals and events worldwide. The first appearance is scheduled for FotoWeek DC International Festival in November 2010.
