Exhibition in Moscow
The Projections of Reality exhibition, assembling one of the largest collections of documentary based multimedia being shown in the world today under one roof, successfully premiered in Moscow on March 5, 2010.The exhibition presented 22 artists working in still photography, multimedia and video. The show featured multi-channel video installations, web-based projects, and interactive documentary films, and included critically acclaimed works by Tim Hetherington, Brenda Ann Kenneally, Alex Majoli, and Yuri Kozyrev, as well as pieces produced by Magnum In Motion and the New York Times multimedia department. There were also early examples of multimedia work by Daniel Meadows and a number of powerful and provocative projects by young photographers from Russia and other CIS states.
The exhibition at the Red October factory was a powerful collaboration of artists, architects and designers offering a unique exhibition experience that showed new documentary techniques at a time when they were still being forged.
The title theme of the Moscow show was 'Encounters with the [Un]familiar'. 'Encounters' gave viewers the possibility to enter the personal worlds of people that traditional media often ignore. The show encompassed an eclectic mix of subjects and geographical locations.
